For those making and maintaining change in their gambling, this is a great place to get started.
This is a thread to introduce yourself. If you're ready to share more about your story and support, perhaps when you're ready start a new topic.

Hi @Carl and welcome. Thanks for your post.
It sounds like you're doing a great thing getting educated in order to support your son. Have you been able to have open talks with him about his gambling?
You might find these tips helpful.

How about you? It can be really stressful to be supporting someone,. It's important you're taking care of yourself too?

We've had a few members join us over the last week so I just want to take a moment to warmly welcome all of you. I'm BrittV - the community mgr.
Well done to each of you on having the strength to come here and share your story. I really hope this community is helpful for you in managing your circumstances and also getting ideas of ways to look after yourself. I really hope that it's helpful to you!

A couple of things you may find helpful to know
    • Many find making your own thread as a great way to create a journal of sorts for your journey, but also to get answers and support from others (individual replies in other threads can get a little tricky).
    • Building connections with others here can be really helpful- with a few of you going through similar things at the moment it seems, it's a great idea to chat and support one another.
    • We have a couple of blogs which you may find helpful, about having difficult conversations, managing money and more, and also info on looking after yourself.
Otehrwise welcome and take care, i look forward to hearing how you're doing

Hi @Utterlybroken , welcome to this forum.

It seems it has been a significant shock for you since you found out your husband's long term gambling.
I am sure it is hard to cope with.
I hope you will feel supported and understood and get some useful tips or insights from other members.

How have you been managing it? Have you had open and honest talks with him?

We have a couple of blogs, which you may find helpful, about having a difficult conversation and on Is someone close to you gambling too much?
If you feel comfortable and ready, please create your own thread too!

    Welcome to this forum again!
