Hi Popeye,
Sorry about this -
Try going into each Forum (i.e. The Courtyard, Strategies for Change...) and in the top right-hand corner you will see a little box with a dash in it. Click that, and it will give you the option "Add to Favourites". If you click that, then it will appear in "My Profile", as AnnaB had suggested.
The problem we're currently trying to fix, is that each time a new topic is added, you have to re-click "Add to Favourites" to get notifications about posts in that new thread.
It's a little convoluted, but we're working on it
I've posted about how to get notifications in the "Feedback on Services" forum as well.

RE: give self-exclusion a go...it worked for me
Self exclusion is sounding like a good option for me. I am going to take the plunge next time I go to the area, hand in my "Rewards Card" NO chop up my card. And try self exclusion. What do I do? Take a Photo, fill out a form???

Hi Popeyethe doona site is lazypatch.com. I am going to buy the pants first and later the top! They come from Caulfield and I live nearby so I am going to see if I can pick them up. Your messages are inspiring. I have only been in the Challenge for 12 days ( my site says Day 9) so I will go with that, and already I went to the pokies once and lost $140. I always lose! Finding it is related to family stress. Trying to detach.

Hi Loui,
You mentioned Caulfield in one of your posts...I'm assuming that means you live in Victoria? If that's the case then all you have to do to exclude from multiple pokies venues is make an appointment with the Australian Hotels Association (AHA for short). They take a photo of you and get you to fill out a form listing the venues you want to be excluded from. You can make an appointmet and find out more by calling 9654 3491. Hope that makes sense
All the best with it!!!

RE: give self-exclusion a go...it worked for me
Hi my name is Penny. So after many years of struggling with gambling and putting myself in financial position that I didn't want to be in, I have 'taken the leap to try self-exclusion. I have had to consolidate debts on credit cards a number of times over the past 10 years, and when I start to slowly get somewhere financially, I go back and gamble it all away again. I am currently seeing a counsellor and have been for some time, but I don't seem to be really getting anywhere with dealing with my emotional issues and the urges to gamble. My Mum says maybe I should try another counsellor and I am open to trying anything at this stage. I'm hoping that self-exclusion could work for me, as I'm sick of feeling like I'm not getting anywhere financially. Its great knowing that I'm not the only one out there dealing with this horrible addiction, and that I can turn to these types of forums for support.

Yep Penny we'll all make room for another in the same boat
I'm working towards paying debts too, and look forward to the day they are gone and we can start again - meanwhile a treat or two does wonders, and I've been enjoying finding cheap ways to enjoy myself and reward the last 6 weeks or so pokies free

Hi Penny,
Just wanted to say: 'Welcome to the forum'. It is great to see another communuity member
It sounds like you have been struggling with gambling for some time now, and making proactive changes such as joining the forum, self-exclusion, and considering new treatment options will surely have a positive outcome!
Hope to see more of you,
Kind regards,
Angelina

They honestly should make self-exclusion easier at some of these casinos. They offer it mosty so they can be eCOGRA certified but they make it a hassle. Either way the casinos do generally offer some decent methods for controlling spending.
One of the easiest things to control, in my opinion is to always bet the minimum. When I'm betting the minimum my dollar goes a lot further. Sometimes I'm able to get my fix of playing before I go past my budget.

Re: give self-exclusion a go...it worked for me
I rekon in my short 7-8 year stint I have gambled well over 100k. I did self exclude many times but there is always a bookie that will accept you. I have stopped for weeks and then boom started up again. I'm at breaking point non suicidal I never have been but literally the amount of frustration I have because I cant seem to shake this gambling crap is doing my head in. self exclusion does help but also we should look at tackling the urge when it comes
