    Accountability Challenge 20 Days

    Sun Sep 15, 2019 8:29 pm

    There is no sliver bullet to quitting gambling but what I have learnt over many years playing the gambling rollercoaster is being accountable to someone can help. So I want to try something here and lets see what difference it makes to me and everyone else who joins in :cool:

    So how do you play?
    • Come here everyday and check-in
    • Ideally your check-in will say you did not gamble, the number of days gamble free, how you are feeling and whatever advice or thoughts you want to share with everyone. Now, if you have gambled then it is what it is, check-in details the same but the reverse
    • Challenge will run for 20 days, at completion there will be a new challenge set
    • Look forward to all the serious takers including myself :o

    Good evening everyone, here's my check-in.
    • Day 1 Check-In Tick
    • Day 1 Gamble Free :cool:
    • Feeling reasonable ok consideration it's day 1
    • My sharing thought = Using "Google Keep" with checklist for the next 20 days. Once an item is ticked it moves to the completed section. Sounds small but does wonders for the mind.
    So where is everyone? I'd rather not play alone ;);

    Hi @Bear22
    Well done with your day! I like your idea of 20 days - feeling less daunting and you can review and reset another goal once accomplished.
    I did not know Google Writing, which sounds helpful and and makes you feel in control.
    Keep on going Bear22 and looking forward to hearing how other people have been.

    • Day 2 checkin done
    • Day 2 gamble free !
    • Day 2 feeling more in control
    • Day 2 learning - create a a list of to do's, prioritise and action at least one of them, again I use "google keep" for this
    Still playing alone :confused:

    Well it's that time again !
    • Day 4 checkin done
    • Day 4 gamble free :);
    • Day 4 not going to lie the high has worn off, urges have started, feeling a little moody but that's all part of the recovery as we all know :eek:
    • Day 4 thought - why is it we get moody during the early stages of recovery. It's not like nicotine or is it an emotional drug :confused:

    Hi Bear,

    Perhaps shift your focus to the activities you are doing rather than moods. Your post enticed me to have a look at my day four post .. I spent the day reading posts and contemplating changes. Change is really important. What are you going to do to keep busy .-focus on what you are doing in the moment and know that you don't want to gamble anymore and get back to the task at hand.

    All the best on your journey.

    Mona
