Hello Izzi, I know the feelings of being paid, only to have to pay it all on loans, then needing to borrow more to get by.

I am wondering how you are going non gambling?

I myself am trying to quit once again, got paid earlier this week, paid all my bills thankfully, then I blew the rest in a few hours, ridiculous, its pointless and I'm starting to realise this, yet for some reason something ticks in my brain that urges me to go out and gamble, not sure if it's a lonely thing, or a bored thing.

I contacted a counseller a few months ago, however I was never contacted back, which kind of made me think what's the point.

So many of my friends my age (23) are building their savings for their future, and I haven't gotten any.

    It's time to change!!!

    All the best!

hi, back from my holiday which was great and know i can see what a challenge it is in the eastern states to stay away from pokies they are everywhere and happy to say that i did not go near them,, i did want to but my daughter is not interested in them at all plus she has seen the damage that they can do, thru what i have gone and am still going through....i also tried to go to the casino there and she didnt want to see that either ,,to her they all look the same,,it was good to get away from everything,,,but im not good at having to much free time on my hands because today yet again i went back to the casino that i am self banned from and lost $1000,,,im really dissappointed that i cant get past thinking that i can take bill money and magically double it,, i should be up to day 99 now and i have only gambled 3 times ,,but when i look back i am actually spending bigger and betting bigger when i am there... by the way i missed coming on this forum ,,and am pleased to read that everyone is doing great,,,i will keep going until i can say i have done 100 days without gambling,,,,,,i hope it will happen

Ang be strong and stay focused..maybe write down all the negatives of gambling and put them where you can see them all the time..even in your car and when you get an urge to gamble look at them and read them until the urge passes..it may help

Hey I just wanted to commend you all on supporting one another. :) Whether you are doing the 100 day challenge, seeing a gambling counselor or just thinking about changing your gambling, these are all positive steps to regaining control. One thing that can help is to write down all the positive aspects of gambling alongside all the negative. Gambling is designed to be positively reinforced through the sounds of the machines, which only sing when you win and not when you lose and through the use of deception like making you think you are winning 30 cents on a dollar spin when in fact you are losing 70 cents. The machines are designed to activate the reward centre in our brain every single time we anticipate a win. By writing down all the positives and negative impacts of gambling, you are being honest with yourself about the reality of your gambling. The more honest you can be with yourself, the more control you will take back. :o

    Keep up the good work,

    Shirley

Mate, you really need to see a councillor to stop the gambling not work out how to scam or hold off lenders, the solution is easy ,stop gambling and you will have all the money you need ,although it is easier said then done,I recommend speaking to someone to find out the real reason you are gambling
