Hi @pamela thanks for sharing with us, I can only imagine how significant this change is for you.

You are so right on how we can change how we react to situations and reflect on what's important in life.

Self-care is also key during these times.

Keep fighting, keep going and I will happily join you in making lemonade! :);

I have just suffered a massive loss..the passing of my partner of 18 +years..
This was after a very short illness so it has come as a real shock.
I was talking to my counsellor and I was saying how easy it would be to loose myself at a pokies venue where nothing mattered.
Bright lights ,music,anonymous faces..
I have no intention of going, but it is easy to understand why we do/did it.
Life can be and is really tough at times, but we can face these issues without gambling.
I am proud of the fact that although that feeling of numbness you get while sitting in front of a machine-guns appealing right now.I know I am strong enough now to acknowledge the thought but not act on it
Now I just need to concentrate on healing my heart and preparing for my future without my partner and without gambling
Don't give up the good fight

Thankyou for your kind words.
When this happened ,I realised just how far I have come.
And for all of us.
I thought at first ,how easy it would be to sit with my grief in front of a poker machine and lose myself in the noise and anonymity.
It was a thought, not an urge.
But of course I didn't....there are other ways ..my place has never been so clean..
Don't give up the good fight..

Hi Pamela, I wish I was as strong as you are right now.. with everything you have gone through (sorry for your loss) and you are still doing amazing! Any tips on how you stopped gambling? Did you see a councillor or a therapist? Does any of that work or you just need to do it on your own? Any advice would be much appreciated..
