I went to a hotel for lunch today ,and walked through the gambling room.I felt really sad watching the people on the machines..expressionless faces mindlessly pushing buttons, and i said to my son ,I dont know why I thought they were fun,and why I sat there hours on end .a robot repetitively pushing buttons..waiting for what?
The big win,the free spins.the fun ,the company?
I know it was an escape from reality for me
I am so glad I got off that merrygoround,
Pokies left me broke, but not broken

Re: can I see the light
So great to hear how your outlook has changed through your journey of becoming an outsider looking in on those that are in the same position you once were. You've gained so much control over a period of time and realized whats more important to you!

Re: can I see the light
well today I have been gamble free for 5 years.
After all the years I spent gambling my life and money away..it is a great achievement.
I honestly never thought I would be able to stop, but I did.
When I think back to when I was playing the pokies,I cant believe how much I wasted on them, not just financially.
I love the freedom of not being chained to a machine..I like the sense of power I have now
Fight for your freedom and you won't look back

I watched a movie? on YouTube
Called "Going for Broke"2003 by horror den
It is an interesting thing to watch,it explains a lot of how and why we become addicted and the effect on our family and lives
If you have some spare time..its worth a look
