Qld is behind the times in regards to self barring

    Mon May 22, 2023 10:17 am

    Hi all,

I cannot get over how difficult it is to self exclude myself from venue pokies here in Qld.

I went into my local pub and they actually asked me to come back the following day as they didn't know how to do a self exclusion order.

Then i couldn't actually do it from multiple venues, just the one. Seems quite pointless.

Surely there should be an easier way to bar myself from pokies statewide? I can't believe how difficult it is. In SA it was a simple email and then i was barred from everywhere. They also use facial recognition cameras in the gaming areas.

Queensland ia definitely behind the times, seems quite sad really too because gambling is huge here.

    Hi @Donkey,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing your view about your experience with the venues. It can be frustrating when you make the commitment to self-exclude and then being told they can't do that.... Have you tried to contact the venue manager and give them some feedback on what happened?
I have also included some information about how to escalate this issue to the government level in the welcome message we sent you.
Let us know how this goes and if there is anything else we can help you with.
