    So sick of this addiction

    Mon Dec 02, 2019 9:15 pm

Hi everyone... I’m back again, should never have left.

The last couple of months have been a wild ride, I got so proud when I hit the 30day mark that I felt like I needed a reward and for some stupid reason my brain said ‘go and put 20 through’ so I did, and lost it.. then instead of leaving, I stayed.. I kept withdrawing Cash and before I knew it, I was sucked in.

Since that day, I’ve been frequenting them again fairly regularly, last week I was dead broke besides 50 bucks.. I won a major jackpot and had 850 in my wallet.. I’d been saved, I remember thinking ‘just leave just leave now’- but I didn’t, I stayed and lost it all. Then I went 5 days without them and today I walked in and lost 450 bucks in an hour, once again I was up 500 and then down. Now I have nothing.

I get soooo frustrated at myself for this type of behaviour, as I’m not an idiot, I have a respectable job and work very hard for my money but I just lose it all to those bloody machines.. something has to give.. this needs to stop. I’ve never gone to see a counsellor in person but I think I might have to, I’m also considering self exclusion from my locals.. I never thought I’d have to do that, but over the last 5 years I’ve lost over 150k on the Pokies.. money I’ll never get back.

I have to cut my losses and move on. I’ve gotta be positive and believe that I can do this.. today is the last day... I’ve said that before, so I sound ridiculous saying it again, but I just don’t know what else to do anymore

You can beat this habit with a lot of determination. Is there someone close to you that you can confide in and ask for help?
Not always easy but can be beneficial.
    Don't carry money with you..
don't take your card..if you go to gamble on the way home from work ,try going a different route
Try counselling as it is very effective
    You CAN stop the cycle😁

I hear you completely I have the same issue!
I don't understand why I cannot firstly cut my losses, pull out the money you win but instead I play it down to $0 and along the way I say ok ill pull it out when it reaches say $500 then $450 then so forth until $0
I have an addiction and I need help Please

Welcome back Tilney! Not that you want to be back.
    Another familiar user!
I'm the same down to zero! If I walk out with winnings I go back until it's gone.
Stupidly greedy and perhaps waiting on the statewide Jackpot of 900k to go off.

All the best with your journey again.

I can really resonate with this Tilney,

I can help you this is what I would do.

    1. Any cash you have put it into a account and then cut up the debit card that comes with it. Citibank have a saver's account and they have gone cashless so deposit all your money into this account and without a debit card you cannot access the account.

    2. Or any money you have go and lock it into a term deposit, so no access to cash!

    4. Leave your Debit card at work so you have no access to it.

    5. Keep busy, organise to go coffee with friends, gym etc

    6. If you happen to gamble take your driver's licence with you and DEMAND a cheque for your winnings. They must by law give you a cheque even for a $1 if you demand it. They may refuse so say this, "By law you must give me a cheque it's called "Responsive gambling" even if the amount is for $!. Crown Casino insisted that they don't have to and the guys in red vest know nothing, ask them to speak to someone in a black vest. I was denied a cheque for $300 and I said that line they quickly shut up and gave me a cheque!

    7. GO SELF EXCLUDE IMMEDIATELY to all venues in your state and casino
