    hi all,

I've tried a number of times to kick the addiction. my vice is online gambling on horses/dogs. I put myself on the NT register, and have been waiting desperately for Betstop so I can be on a national register. unfortunately since putting myself on the NT register i have had to individually exclude from every other nsw and Vic bookie, not before losing around 200k in 4 months. i grew up around gambling, and have mental health issues which make it hard to say no, when stressed or out of my routine. online bookmakers are extremely predatory which doesn't help. anyway I'm on here which is another step to recovery.

    Another Relapse!

    Fri Mar 31, 2023 1:12 pm

Im so guilty I went back to the pub yesterday & blew $1200! That what I had saved since my first post beginning of March! I lost it after playing for 6 hours. I then took a cash advance of $500 from cc to saving account, drove to the club withdrew it & lost it in 30 minutes! I feel so bad, so ashamed of myself for doing it again when the past two weeks I stayed home & didnt go near the pokies. Why do we keep doing it? I was on a machine for a while losing then winning & put it all in & lost. Later a young man went to that machine & played $4.50 per bet & got the feature x 10 & took out $3000! Yes three thousand dollars, I was so peeved, so upset & jealous! It was a big blow. He played the next machine next to me & again played the highest bet, he lost $1000 in 10 minutes! It made me think about the addicition to pokies & I saw myself in him chasing the win & wanting the big one to drop. I would of left if I won that $3000, maybe put some back in but made sure I left with some of that money. I came home & drank myself to oblivion til 4am this morning & now Im typing this feeling like crap, full of anxiety & that deep despair in the pits of my stomach. Why did I go back & do it again? Now I have to suffer til I get over the intial shame & get back to trying to find any meaning in my life coz right ow I feel f'kd. Im so angry at myself right now, I just want to curl up & forget it never happened, but it did & Im a fool once more!
    Thanks for reading

Anyone who wants to limit the cash withdrawal, I have an option for you. Try an account with Westpac with no debit card and ask manager to disable Cardless Cash search on mobile app. Queen Street branch in Brisbane was able to help me with this. Now, I don’t have access to any cash due to deactivated cardless cash feature and no debit card. Hope this helps.
Contact connor.petersen@westpac.com.au to open an account with Westpac and no access to cardless cash or any other cash withdrawal.

    Hi
I registered a couple of years again but I've never posted anything.
I'm 42 and battled gambling addiction on and off my while adult life, it has taken everthing from me including 2 daughters and partner of 18years, I've lost everything I've ever owned, Im now bankrupt for the 2nd time and lost everything I've ever owned, i had to move back home, I work full time but that is looking shady as I gamble worse then ever nowto the point I won't even buy food first or pay my bills, I just blow everything as soon as I get it then scrape by to the next fortnight's pay and do it all again, I'm on my last warning from work as when I gamble my pay I then just go into my room for days with severe depression and can't work. I guess I'm posting as a last ditch effort as I've tried everything and wondering if anyone has anything at all that can help, I live in a rural town and with no car it's makes it hard to go anywhere as there are limited services here, thanks
