    Hi @PlayerX,
Welcome to the forums. Thank you for sharing your story with us. You've mentioned everything comes with the casino games make you want to keep playing. The music, the light, the sound, they are purposely designed in that way to make people keep playing. So you are definitely not the only one that is experiencing this.
I am wondering what kind of intervention you have in place? What kind of support are you thinking about getting?
About some resources for online gambling, there is an software/app called GamBan. It blocks the device from accessing gambling app or websites. This is their website if you want to have a look: https://gamban.com/

    Feel free to @ myself or @Printemps in your post if you have any question, we will try our best to help! :);

    Hi everyone

Day 3 for me, going okay but mind is still not very clear...

Does anyone have any thoughts on counselling? I've never had counselling before and would like to know if people have any thoughts on it.

    Thanks

@MRB when you say your mind isn't very clear, what does that look like for you exactly? I think @AGHS has some advice around counselling. I know for many people it is just the easiest way to develop strategies over time. Also having someone there to actually talk to and properly address what's happening in relation to triggers and urges is a massive bonus.

    Hi @Tobygirl

Wow! That takes a lot of courage to go home and tell your family. I'm proud of you!

I always get very anxious even when the topic comes up....kind of like severe anxiety I guess.

Hope to see you around more often :-)

    Time to Change My Life
I am in my late 60’s & have a poker machine addiction. This addiction has become more severe this year.
As I had been living & working in WA ( no poker machines) for the last five years I managed to only gamble when I returned to NSW for holidays or visited Perth & the casino. I saved lots of money & travelled all over the world.
At the end of last year I returned to NSW & since then I have been gambling in clubs & I have wasted large amounts of money.
My family & friends do not know how bad my addiction is. I have kept it a secret & as I live on my own. I come from a family of gamblers & this is how my addiction started. We often go out for meals & all end up in a club where we finish our day with a flutter on the pokies. My ex husband & my daughter both are problem gamblers.
My gaming is a concern as It is starting to control my life. I’ve stoped exercising, feel tired & anxious & incredibly guilty about all the money I’m wasting when there are people out there who could do with financial support.
I’m spending more & more time in the local club often hidden away in the back corner so that no one will see me as I know my friends would be horrified if they knew what I was up to. This is not the person I want to be.
So I have decided things have to change. This is the first day of my challenge.
I feel 100 days is too long a time span for me. I am going to start with 50 days as this will take me to the end of November when I finish my work contract. I will then have to negotiate the Christmas break which for me will be about 3 months. As I will be on holidays all this time I feel like I will need a new set of strategies to get though this very difficult period.
I have read all the information on this web site & I will use the resources provided to help me.
I have also though about using hypnosis to help me. Has any one used this & how successful was it?
Looking forward to taking back control of my life & becoming a better person.

    Hi @Printemps

Thanks for responding. Just passed day 6, I just don't feel as happy as I think that I should be feeling but still quite down in many ways. I'm hoping it will get better.
