You will enjoy the scotch im sure.

Im at 3 weeks today....yay me. The rewards speak for themselves. Sounds like you have been disciplined and focused on the goal.

I cant wait to wake up and not have to worry about the financial or emotional termoil it causes.

    The future is bright.

    Hi everyone,

Keep up the good work 1dayatatime.

This is like the first or second Good Friday of my adult life that I haven't been hanging out to play the damn pokies when the pubs and clubs open tomorrow morning... Instead I've spent the day with my family and friends and better still they got to see me happy and enjoying their company for once.

I wish everyone a safe and happy Easter
    Thanks

    Hello everyone,

Just thought I'd better check in and say hi. Eight weeks and going strong. Been filling my time with reading, gardening and being a good Dad and partner.

The extra time I'm spending with my family and friends is what i'm going to refer to as "honest time", time that I actually want to be there with them fully and completely. In the past i always had desires to be elsewhere spending my future, while hiding my secret addiction and latest losses behind fake smiles or bad mood swings and fierce tempers.

Its so nice to just be me again, no lies, no stress, just living life and learning from my mistakes.

I will be strong and won't gamble today, I wish the same for you all too.
    Cheers

Hello and well done. You are right about the honest time..when we gamble we are dishonest and sneaky ..not who we really are or want to be.Once the gambling stops we do become more honest.keep staying gamble free and enjoying your family

    Hi guys,

Going well 1dayatatime, cheers for asking, well done to you for making a month and beyond... :-) I'm 64 days and feeling great.

Been thinking about the things I'm missing most are being able to buy things like snacks and drinks at work cos I have not got access to any money.

Also if I'd had a decent win I would go on little shopping spree's for clothes, alcohol, lotto tickets, presents ect. ect. The only treats I've had in 9 weeks have been a carton of beer a few weeks ago, a bottle of scotch for 50 days GF and a six pack while camping this last weekend. Normally I'd have had all that in a couple weeks.

Sometimes I'd have a big loss and try to cover it up by going on a shopping spree digging myself a bigger hole...

I'm so glad I've got those days behind me now (so far so good!)

To all those out there contemplating quitting or on your first day or first week do it one day at a time, do it for yourself, do it for the ones you love and the ones who love you but most importantly do it for your future.

For in my eyes there is no future for me if I gamble.

    Thanks, Lee

    Hello friend,

Just read your story! You hit a couple nerves as we are the same age and gambled for a similar amount of time.
I have a 13m beautiful girl, I'm sleeping in a shed at the moment. Have a professional job but man I went one step further and lost my wife. You are a stone throw from loosing yours. I gambled my whole pay check last evening only left enough for child support. It's harder without your family mate stay strong.
