Messaging function update!
An important update for you all about an upcoming change! ...
We’re passionate about ensuring our community is a safe and welcoming environment for people with gambling-related concerns to connect and support one another.
This is really important to us, and we are consistently reviewing our processes.
With this in mind, we are preparing to turn off the private message function between members.
While our facilitators prefer to take a backseat and let the beauty of peer support play out, we believe what makes our community unique is that there are gambling clinicians on hand to support our members if necessary. Unfortunately, we’re unable to do this when communication is taken into the private space.
As many of you yourselves have said many times… just reading about other people’s experiences can be so valuable, particularly when they’re struggling with the same thing you are. There’s no shame here, this is a community of people in it together! You never know who your post might help, and when.
We try not to make changes too often. We’ve evaluated things, and know this will only affect a small group of our community.
As of August 7 private messaging will only be available between members and myself as Community Mgr, and a specific account called @TheTeam. This is where we’ll be able to reach out to one another about concerns. I'll make sure to reply here when this change happens, including how you can get in private contact with us when required.
