    Day 1.

    Fri Apr 26, 2019 12:38 pm

    Hi All,

I have sought out help (finally) after a long battle with my gambling addiction. When I turned 18 (2010) I played non stop until I had fallen pregnant with my second child in 2017. I completely stopped playing for 12 months cold turkey. No urge and always had distractions. I felt EMPOWERED. I felt wonderful. I relapsed when I returned to work at the end of 2018. I had freedom and I was bored. About a month ago I self excluded from 3 venues including the Brisbane Casino. My husband sat by my side and I swore that was it. Well apparently not. Today will be Day 0. I walked almost 1km to my nearest venue that I haven't yet excluded from for the 3rd time this week. I put in $100, played until I had won almost $700, and then played it all the way down to $0. I have no explanation as to why I didn't cash out, however this is definitely rock bottom for me.

Here's to the 100 day challenge!

Welcome to the forums @keataz, and thank you for sharing your story!

Great to hear how strong you feel about making a change. Sounds like you have a lovely family empowering you too!

Were there some particular strategies that helped you in the 12 months previously? 12 months is a very long time!! I know you said you didnt have urges during that time, but perhaps were there some things in the initial period that helped you?

How have things been going for you this week?
