Feeling so ****. Two days out from payday and I’m broke. Spent $900 in the last two weeks. I’m so over this habit. It’s ruining our marriage. We’re feeding off each other’s habits. We know if either one of us says we’re going to the pub the other will follow because we’re weak as F**k!

    Welcome to the forums Rebecca!

Takes a lot of strength to resist gambling. It is Not so much a weakness as it is the machines have brainwashed us. It is how they have been programmed. watch Ka' Ching pokie nation and any other you tube gambling segments so you can understand what happens.

The rest is hard as withdrawals are crazy... and you'll need to make changes to everyday life. Do new things ... maybe find a GA meeting you can both go to instead of the pub? ...

All the best on your journey !

    stay strong

    Welcome to the forums @Rebecca4207,

As Mona says, it's very difficult to change a behaviour. I'm sure you're not weak at all - you definitely don't sound it!

Have you considered some ways to help support yourself in making this change?
How have you been going since your last post?

Literally worse! I own my own business now. I work extremely hard for myself. So when I’m not working I’m gambling. Over 3k of my hard earned cash down the drain this week. So here I am reaching back out to the forum, it’s so pathetic. (The addiction that is) I am going to look around for professional help. I f#%king gate this crap. My addiction never leaves me completely broke. I have been gambling since I was 18, I’m now 32 years old. I always make sure I still have money to see my family though. All my bills and my children’s necessity’s come first then I’ll gamble a lot but I don’t drain my account.

hey @Rebecca4207 , I relate to exactly what your saying about never gambling to your broke, but it still feels awful when you lose your whole pay check or take a chuck out of your savings for sure. I always told myself that it was okay because I knew we still have the bare minimum to pay the bills and in case of an emergency but then would tell my partner we should get something or go out and spend money becasue we should save, when really I was using our extra savings and cash for gambling. I'm not sure how much of a sharer you are so dont feel pressured to share but what kind of business do you run? And what has been your experience with the pub and pokies? Like how did you start, at what bet size, how often did you used to go before you started this challenge? Once again, dont feel like you need to answer :)
