    Fresh Start

    Fri Jan 28, 2022 4:46 pm

    Today is day 3.
I've had so much guilt and anger with myself over the last few days and just can't seem to shake it.
I do well for a few months but then I always relapse. It's just so disappointing as it's happened so many times over the past 10 years. All this hard earnt money could be spent on myself but instead it goes into those stupid bloody machines. I just lose track of all my senses and keep spending more and more money. I can't keep doing this. I'm still young (29) and have so much to live for. Here's to the 100 day challenge and hopefully many, many more days thereafter.

I am sure it took a lot of courage to come to this forum and make your first post. We do appreciate it.
It seems it has been disappointing for you to relapse several times in the past and to lose hard earned money.
Yes you are still young and make a change to your gambling with support. And actually you have already done achieving day 3!
Acknowledge your small success every day and remember one at a time.

698 days gamble free. It's the worst addiction. It will get easier once you get to 1-2 years clean. Don't lose hope. Keep fighting. If I can, believe me you can too. Stay strong.

A lot of self care. Appreciating the small things. A walk with my dog, netflix, a hot shower etc.
I have had some really terrible days at work these past few weeks where I've had the urge to gamble when I finish so I can block everything out. But I know that is going to create bigger problems for me...

@Dfs674 it sounds like you're creating a really good routine in regards to your self care and maintaining your overall well-being. What you're doing now, by developing these great routines and not giving into those urges is going to be so important and you're really laying the ground work to keep you on track and be able to redirect urges when they strike!

    How are you going today?

    Thanks @Printemps
    28 days now.
Urges aren't as strong now but I'm still wary.
Going okay for now, but I've been doing long hours at work.
I have a 3 day weekend coming up so I'm mindful not to blow off some steam by gambling.
