    Son's gambling problem

    Fri Oct 25, 2019 2:34 am

    Hi all

    I am new to this forum.
    My 27 year old son lives at home and his gambling problem is escalating.
    He now spends almost all of his weekly pay on sports betting on his iPhone and he lies about it.
    He owes me about $1,ooo which he will pay back but he wont admit that he has a problem

    Hi @MaggieM

    Welcome to the forums! I hope you find it informative and supportive :);
    It sounds like your son's gambling is becoming out of hand and he is in complete denial about it? How are you coping with it all? I can imagine it would be quite stressful.

    Kind Regards,

    Tim Tam

    Hi Maggie,

    I guess you could try talking to him about the pitfalls of gambling. Tell him it is ruining his life - his future. Read some of the posts in the forum written by gamblers ... use what knowledge you get, to give him insight. He may well not listen... but you would have planted the seed. Then I guess all you could do is hope it encourages him to stop. When he comes to that point of admitting he has a problem- there are ways of blocking gambling sites.

    Hi Maggie I am in the same boat with my adult live at home son. I am just starting out learning about this. Have you made any progress?
