Hi, I'm a mum of 2 young children and have just found that my fiance actually has a gambling problem. This is the second time I have found out but the first time I have found out how bad.
I have already called the help line myself, which was so helpful, but he said he isn't ready yet.

Hello @ProtectiveMum
Welcome to the forums! Good on you for reaching out and thankyou for sharing.
It can be quite difficult and stressful for someone in your position especially if your partner isn't quite ready to take accountability for the gambling issue just yet.
As you know, gambling not only effects the person, but for those around them. Can you share with us how this has impacted you so far? Is there anyone in your life that supports you? Any tips from the helpline that may of stood out to you?
Does anyone have any words of support for ProtectiveMum during this time?

Re: New here? Friends & family introduce yourself here!
Hi
I'm here because I am at my wit's end after more than 40 years married to a compulsive gambler. I know it is too late to change his behaviour, but now that I am retired and I have to put up with sky racing 7 days a week on the TV (or else go out of my own home) plus not get any financial support from him because he spends all his money at the TAB, I need help to cope with the situation. I am too embarrassed to talk to family or friends about the situation as I feel it is my fault in that I let it all get away from me and should have done more earlier. I've always earned sufficient money to pay for everything so he really has had a 'free ride' for many years.
And he doesn't think he has a problem - his whole family were the same.

Hi @Beachgirl
Welcome to the forums! Good on you for reaching out for help.
Its always difficult being on the receiving end of someone elses gambling issue. It can become overly stressful and at times exhausting to deal with.
Here on the forums, there are many others who have experienced similar situations to yourself.
Have you got any support from family/friends in your life about this?
Does anyone have any words of support/advice for Beach girl?

Hi @Mark7 you have come to the right place. Apart from the tips you might get here I would suggest heading over to the 100 day challenge topic and create a new post where you can keep track of progress. Also have a read through there about what some others are doing.
