The trouble is with a gambler until we recognise our problems we live in denial regardless of how we hurt the people closest to us..but it has to be our decision to stop.I really feel for you and only you can decide your future..

    HI Belle,

Sounds like you have had to make some pretty tough decisions, but ultimately, we each need to look after ourselves before looking after others. This can be really hard, as we often will put others ahead of ourselves without meaning to, we just care without thinking. As others have said, I agree that your ex has to decide to give up, no one can make a person stop gambling, they need to tackle it when they are ready. I think that looking after yourself and taking a step back (while very difficult), is a wise choice for the time being.

    Look after yourself

    Thanks Pamela

Not easy at all you are right. Very hard to give up a soul mate :(
Hopefully things will turn around in time but for my kids sake and mine .... I guess I need to accept that I need to move on.

Hi Belle, I have been in your situation and decided to stay. My advice is to leave :( it is an incredibly tough and draining process which only is worthwhile if the gambler wants to change x
