Today I caught myself looking at the odds trying to find a sure thing.
Then my friend stopped me cause he said as soon as you start punting again it will be game over.

So I put my phone down and was able to defeat the feelings :).

    Hey Richard6,

Sounds like your friend had some good advice. Wondering also what you mean by a sure thing?

A sure thing is a thought that comes to your head that you believe that there is no chance of your selection failing.
There is no real such thing as a sure thing haha as in sport anything can happen.

What has stopped me from gambling is being on antidepressants, so far I have clocked up over 11 days without gambling a cent. I really do thank the drug lexapro for transforming my life.

Can not believe what a difference it has made in my life.. Just so happy that I have found what i had been searching for a long time to help me.

    Hi Richard6,

It's interesting to hear you talk about the protective effects of Lexapro. There is some opinion out there that Lexapro could fuel excessive gambling, I'm really glad that you're experiencing the opposite effect.

11 days! Keep up the great work.

    Yes it is very interesting.
After the first 2 days of taking the medication I no longer had the desire to gamble as it lifted my mood and reduced the cravings.

When I went back to the Dr for a check up yesterday he could not believe it.
Still continue to gamble free, it is the best present ever but the Dr warned me that antidepressants are really just a mask and there is still issues that I need to solve.

I am booked in to still go to rehab on 7th Jan - 28th Jan to do group therapy etc.

Hey Richard6 - good luck with the rehab/ group therapy.

Is that a program for all addictions and in Victoria? We would be interested to hear how you find a residential rehab. program for gambling addiction.

Good news with the no urge to gamble.

    Have a happy Christmas,
    Susan
