I can relate. I've been doing better and taking my own advice but I don't have the high anymore or the entertainment. This weekend I've been depressed and my mood is really low. I'm sitting with feelings of emptiness and despair. It's set me up for feeling triggered- an empty house, family member in hospital, fights at home or passive-aggressiveness. You have to look around at everything else and it's s***.

Life is really mundane when you strip it down. What's left without the drama of wasting money and having to save it again and the emotions around it, checking up on it, feeling agitated, having a meltdown, having to talk yourself through the mess you've made of your life by sabotaging your finances, vowing to change. You're getting on and off the same rollercoaster to distance yourself from everything.

I think surrounding the other issues you have that are hard to avoid when you cut out avoidance techniques, you need to seek help for it and deal with them one by one, so there are fewer things pulling you back into it. Draw on the supports you have for now to tie you over until you've got something better if this is the case for you. Is the distancing and wishing you were somewhere else another avoidance technique perhaps.
