4 days in!

Postby BRC.2010 » Tue Aug 22, 2017 4:34 pm

Today's day 4 for me of my 100 day challenge. I'm happy that I have gone this long first time in years I have gone four days without playing the pokies. It's been hard but I'm trying my hardest to stay strong had the urge today to go put $20 in but for me $20 leads to $400-$500 always chasing that one big win. I'm so disappointed in myself that I have let myself get this far in to the addiction. But I really want to beat it!!!

Thanks all so far it's just sheer determination and reading people's stories that's keeping me going, today was Day 5 done and dusted I have a toothache so spent most of it in bed so today was probably the easiest day of all so far. Friday will be a big test for me as I get paid then from work and I usually head to the pokies with my mum, my mum is a bit of an enabler and loves the pokies also so at the same time I'm trying to keep my distance from her also. I don't want her thinking I'm angry at her or anything she's probably wondering why she hasn't seen me in 5 days. So I have decided I'll go explain to her tomorrow that I'm trying to stay away from the pokies

Once you explain that to your mum suggest to do something else instead like getting a massage, going to see a movie in Gold class, go out for lunch etc if she refuses then just tell her you will drop her off at the pokies and come back at the time she wants you too to pick her up. However wait in the carpark and don't go in, wait for her to come out. Don't have access to money either and lock up your pay!!!

Thanks for the advice, the hardest thing is finding something else to do. As we live in a very small town so struggle with boredom. We don't have a cinema or anything like that no massage place either unfortunately. We have about 6 pubs 2 bargain shops and a Coles. But I'm determined to keep going and stay away from them. I dropped my children of at school then went to visit my mum, we are currently at a coffee shop going to have some coffee and cake then I'll be dropping her back if at her place. Feels rather strange doing something like coffee and cake almost normal lol.

Great choice. Who doesn't like coffee and cake?
It's surprising how you'll find different things to do rather than gambling.Even in.a small town you can find things to do.go for a walk,go for a drive, garden, cook.Explain to your mum you are trying to stop.I am sure she will be supportive
