Hi Popeye,
Im glad you have started again on your journey, I am not going to critisise anything or anyone as we all do things differently. You and only you is responsible for your life and your choices just as i am with my life. I am only at day 30 today after probably 28 years. I was a binge gambler, not an everyday gambler, just the type that usually had good intentions but once started playing could NEVER stop. I have pretty much been like that in all aspects of my life once i start something i become obsessed with it full on for a year then stop, except for pokies, ive never been able to stop them until now. I am lucky i still have a house with a mortgage but only because my parents have bailed me out all my life which through those times i thought was great of them until a counsellor told me the opposite, that by them always helping me financially they have actually "allowed" me to continue gambling my whole life without much consequence. Not quite sure where i was going with this post but to say that even though i have only been on here for a month you have helped me without even realising so keep being you (without posting wins) and look forward to more chats in the future.

Hey Popeye,
Just stopping by to say hi and hope you have had a great weekend.
Wow 12 years is a long time trying to stop but at least you havent given up.
Years ago my brother went to a counsellor who was specialised in gambling addiction and she told him that it is almost impossible to completely stop so instead told him to reduce bets and try to change his mind set so as he was gambling for fun / entertainment instead of to win. I thought that was a really weird thing for her to say as a professional but maybe she was being realistic. My brother would bet on anything and everything but over the last few years has slowed it down to say a $10 bet on a horse instead of $100, he sets limits and seems to stick to it, he will never stop but it isnt destroying him anymore. He told me to do the same, like save up a couple of hundred and go to a favorite place once a month with a friend, have a nice meal and play the pokies in a controlled atmosphere. Lol it didnt work for me but i guess is food for thought
